ow.

i just fell off my bike. pretty bad actually. lame.

i was going from my place to the store and put on lots of winter clothing bc it's cold and riding makes it colder because of the wind and learned why that is not a good idea due to visual and motion impairment. i was about to make a left and had looked behind me and thought i saw it was clear around my huge hood so i started to go but then i saw the lights and didn't want to hit the car so i veered right and ran into the curb and along it for a few feet and then fell over to my right. it hurt but i got right up, i was a bit shaky so i just stood for a few. i started to think, if i was in the car i would check, just as i saw a guy in a car with flashers on running up, i don't know if it was his car bc it seemed like a while, but at least someone checked. i made it to the store and back but now i hurt =/

so, i think i forgot to mention that i got a voice mail from the executive director very bluntly letting me know they no longer needed me to come in as i was terminated. i didn't check my messages til thurs or fri so it was a few days old, i mean, i knew what was going on bc of the check and no responses or other contact, but knowing is half the battle, lol. no, really, if i had checked voice mail i would've known where i stood and saved myself a lot of torment and anguish through thinking. erg.

i got a lot of stuff done as far as resources go: food stamps app almost done and ready to drop off or mail, unemployment re-app done on-line, ohp - medical - re-app or amend app again with new wages, looked at craigslist just to see, registered for class to start on 12/14, financial paperwork all done on-line, let everyone with school know as in enrollment, academic, financial, disability advisors. nice and productive. i also got a bunch of cleaning done: my living room almost all clean, my kitchen clean, clothes put away 90% but bedroom floor completely clean, bathroom clean. there are a few (okay, a lot of) loose ends, but things looking good. much better than in a while. i have been pacing myself pretty well which seems to be working. i hope i can figure out rent. blargh.

that's all i got. let's hope i feel good tomorrow and not sore from my first and hopefully last bike fall.........

Hey, so do you have to go in and pick up your check or will they mail it to you?

You sound pretty positive. I'll bet it's nice to have a dishwasher!!!!!! I don't know if I could live without one.

I'm sorry about the big fall. Did you read in my blog that I hit someone on a bike with my car a month or so back? It was awful. I hate bikers. No offense. I know that it's different in other parts of the country. But here, the streets are narrow and crowded with cars and the bikes don't drive legally (nor do many of the cars. I hate them too) but the bikes weave in and out and try to get around you...

until one day...
you're just bound to hit one.

Also, I should mention, that I also hate many pedestrians in the city. They seemingly leap in front of you while you're driving in the hopes of being able to cross the street 15 seconds earlier. I saw a woman, stroller in front of her, in an intersection, waiting for the opportunity to dash.

I'm thinking that I don't hate any of these things, actually.

I'm thinking that what I do hate... is the congestion of the city.

no, they certified mailed it to me so i got it before i listened to the message. it was only $88 bc we had just had a full pay period and this was the one day in the next pay period. sigh.

lol, i had a dishwasher that was like 20 years old and it stopped working so i got a new one. it was lame not having one. and i got a new bathroom fan. and a new lockset that looks better and bottom and top both work. we got a new mgmt. company.

i remember you hitting him and him not stopping! i am def. not a biker who weaves in and out, i stay on bike paths wherever possible. i have front and rear lights and wear a helmet and look before i turn. this was my fault though. i had on a winter hat with a bill and ear flaps, a bike helmet with a visor and a jacket with the hood up kinda, a scarf over my face steaming up my glasses, so yeah, i need mirrors or better gear that keeps me warm but isn't bulky.

as a pedestrian, i always wait for the walking man but tons of people don't, i feel they might be getting some cheap thrill running / jumping across the street in front of cars. i don't want to get a ticket from the bike, segway or foot police.
