long awaited update

i've been wanting to post. but since nothing was going on except for me being in pain mostly, i felt like all my posts were the same and therefore boring. i have been posting at i am what i eat, exciting.

let's see, last friday i went to the farm to hang with STone and mel-g, we went for a hike on the state park that surrounds their home and land. it was a bit too much but we took it slow and mel-g is really good at bodywork so she was trying to calm my side with gentle touch which totally helped. then i shared in their community dinner which they do every night at 6pm, always vegetarian and i assume, delicious bc this was.

i felt kind of bad bc i had told l* from school that i would go to a zombie party with her, but then once i was at the farm i didn't feel like it and then i stayed there until like 11. i did txt her more than an hour before saying i didn't know. and then again that she should go and i would call or txt if i was going to meet her there. i like her, but i feel like we're trying to hard to be friends. when we were on campus we would chill and then i would just hop in her car afterward. this term we have no classes together or even really same times or days. and i feel flaky bc she's invited me over and i've been tired or had a headache. but i invited her to 2 parties this wkend, one on friday from 11pm til dawn and one on saturday from early in the day all night. if i go friday, i will prolly sleep all day sat and get there fri for music at 7.

i spent the wkend taking care of myself as best i could. being in so much physical pain was really bringing me down. it still is, but today i am in a really good mood for some reason, maybe bc it was 50 and sunny and i was outside and saw people i love. on monday i was supposed to have karapist but as i was freaking out trying to get ready and not finding stuff i needed i got a message that she was sick. since i didn't sleep well, i went back to bed and didn't go to the clinic, like a dumbass.

i finally went to the store, both safeway and trader joe's are about 1/2 mile from my house on 39th where a bus runs. normally i would never take the bus 2 stops, but i have a pass that allows me to ride all day everyday so i walked slowly to TJ's and then with 2 armfulls i took the bus and only had to walk the .15 miles up my block which was grueling to be honest. tomorrow karapist is bringing me a handcart - just one more step to looking like a transient ;) i went to class and by the time i got to campus with my bag i was crying. but i rested and stretched before class and felt good.

and here we are. today. present. i wrote my advisor about my field experience and he said that he had set up a meeting with the principal of a school and sorry if i didn't know, um, what? my FE coordinator didn't even know, she actually asked me today via email if i had a classroom yet. uuuuuuuhhhh. and then he said he wasn't aware of my situation, um, what? i even checked my email bc i try to remember to bcc: myself on all important emails and i totally sent it to him along with my professors. oh well. he has like 100 grad students in the program that he is pretty much starting from the ground up and nobody's perfect. if i don't hear from the principal he said it was ok to contact her professionally on monday. woot. i hope it's not some long drawn out process, just put me in, coach!

tomorrow i am going to go to the clinic for morning sign in at 8:30 and then karapist at 10 and then psych at 1:30. shit. i better do the work i need to do on the computer tonight. which is math so i don't mind at all. well, with the challenge. i don't really want to write another lesson plan. i best get used to it. but like, the way that they have it templated is not how i would do it in written form or in teaching but i guess it's good practice in case i work somewhere that requires that, but it's annoying. i actually just really hate the site we have to use to submit them, "taskstream", it's more like a muddy puddle than a stream. it's super difficult to navigate, profs and students are all having problems, no one likes it, boo! i asked what the purpose was if it was just causing everyone extra work and frustration bc i do that in class which is maybe why i am supposed to monitor myself more...and the prof said that bc some schools use submission and evaluation tools on-line like that. ok, i'll learn their system there, it's highly unlikely that where i get hired is going to use the same one.

the filling i got in Oct 2007 when half of my tooth broke off fell out the other day. that dentist sucks. when i went to the dentist in Dec 2007 he said i would need it fixed in a year if i didn't cap or crown it. he is a good dentist in nj, i've had a filling from him since i was young and it hasn't fallen out. dammit.

i have been further investigating hip hop classes. i found a studio that has all levels and you can do one class at a time or pay for a bunch. and you can go whenever, it's not like a weekly thing, so it seems like a good fit. but it looks really hip. i am just worried that everyone there will be all fit and cool and i'll be all dorky and fat...i might go watch a beginner class and see. i can't do it now anyway. stupid side.

i am infatuated with lady gaga. she's a talented singer and dancer with great beats who seems to have a good sense of humor and plus she's hella weird on and off stage and owns it. i would totally love to just walk around with glitter jewels on my face and killer strange glasses and sparkle my hair, but i am not that bold, i would feel uncomfortable and also if i did get attention, i wouldn't like it.

how'd i turn my shirt inside out?

Hey Nikkol!

Sorry that I've been so out of touch.

This vacation has been great... but it hasn't allowed much down time to relax. There's a reason that people only come to Disney World once every decade... and it is not financial.

I have to get over to I Am What I Eat. I'm excited to read your new posts there. I haven't been keeping up with anyone's blogs this week. So sad!!!! I've barely been able to keep my finger on Homespun... and that's my job, yo!

I love the idea of a community dinner. I hope that someday I can visit and get to know some of these amazing people who I read about so often. I have secret dreams of living in a commune... like Twin Oaks... and having community dinners every night.

It's hard when you like someone but feel that friendship is too high maintentence. Maybe just keep your friendship casual. You might not ever be BFF, but it will be awesome to have craft nights and you guys may end up in another class togetehr which would be awesome.

How are you feeling? Did you end up going to the clinic? How are your psych appointments going? And how is Cymbalta working out for you? Do you notice a difference?

But most importantly, did you get teh hand cart? they are so cool!

no apologies needed, thanks for visited while you're on vaca!

yeah, i've been dying to talk to you about homespun but i didn't want to type it and have it come across like gossip so i figured i would wait to talk to you again. we certainly did leave that conversation at a strange (non) ending point ;)

yeah, the farm is like a commune, about 20 people live there and all take care of land and switch jobs of cooking and cleaning and stuff. it's rad. the dinners are really nice. and even if you're not hungry, you know there will be good people and good food gathered at 6pm every night :)

yeah, i think it's just too much to travel to her house which is in NE (but 500x nicer than mine) and i know we get along and like each other so we'll see.

i've been feeling OK. i haven't gone to the clinic bc i am stubborn. but i think i will monday. it still hurts and i can't tell whether it's hurting less or i am getting used to it. i think a bit of both bc if i sneeze or something, it really effing hurts. the balta is actually working well. mentally i feel good, my symptoms are pretty much under control. except for pain bringing me down. psych wasn't there :( but i will see her soon.

the handcart is *awesome* and karapist was telling me about how in NYC everyone is starting to use them (making me feel better about it) and then i mentioned you in philly and she was like, see?! heh

We did leave that conversation off at a strange place.

But back to Homespun...

I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to participate in it. Like, the friends that I've met this way are totally incredible. I keep telling them that we should start our own "The View." We're all super different in a bunch of ways... but all similar in the ways that help us to get along. I am certain that we're going to be good friends for years and years to come.

I think that I mentioned on the phone that we're having a little convention in Burlington, VT this July (for 4th of July weekend.) Then, in following years we hope to open it up to readers and finally to host handmade workshops... things like scrapbooking, soap making, cooking, gardening, knitting, sewing... and so forth!

Ha!

Thanks for being soooooo supportive Nikkol! If I haven't said it before, I appreciate you so much. You always show so much insight. In many ways, you're my most solid friend!

yeah, you did mention that meeting on 4th of july - that's so cool! so really, you met all these wonderful women on-line? reading all the "about me's" is interesting bc everyone is so different which i like, yet everyone has common interests too. YaY! we still have to chat more about it ;)
