god dammit, lost.

i finished lost. they're all dead. god dammit.

here is my synopsis before reading any others.

when they first crashed on the island they all showed their personalities whilst dealing with crisis which was a first glimpse into their heads. after they kinda settled into being there, i believe they were facing their worst fears (except locke who the reverse was occuring and i didn't like the whole time as a sidebar).

then i saw it as a social experiment, what happens when all these people from diverse backgrounds with different skill sets get together? can they work together to reach a common goal or will they butt heads? it was illustrated clearly some people are just driven and solve problems by violence and guns, esh. that message was was strong throughout the series. for the most part i think they fared pretty well. there was the polar bear, yep. and the smoke monster which i always saw as an evil presence that only the strongest could stare down and cause to retreat. more trouble came when it was discovered that there but then there were other people on the island. because of their limited mannerisms as a group and ethan looking weird and ben linus being a creepazoid, i thought they might be aliens, but i stopped on that one.

Flight815 people and and the other people clearly both wanted rid of each other and instead of trying to peacefully do things and keep space on a huge island specific for each other or help each other out, they snuck around and caused negative chain reactions and a lot of murder and pain inflicted on each other and themselves. there were the believers and the non-believers and in betweens in all the groups; those that were acting on blind faith and those that questioned everything and those that didn't know what to think.

i liked the back stories they gave to the characters but i feel like they were somewhat afterthoughts. or trying to make them all seem more tragic than previously portrayed. or both. i think these parts of the story added to the show because it showed the background they came from and what they were like in their life. i like character development. it was kinda weird to see a whole episode about and learn so much a character and then not see them for a bit. also, i asked about jin so many times that it was frustrating

the dharma initiative. this to me was pretty sad. it showed me how liked minded individuals can get together and still fail miserably because eventually or even from the beginning, i guess, people have different roles and responsibilities and levels of power that go with them. also ben's dad's, roger workman's, blame on ben which affected him negatively. also the stagnancy and depressing thoughts of babies not being able to be born and women sacrificing their lives knowingly or unknowingly. also deception.

the whole time travel aspect to me was interesting to me. i like the logic behind it that the people traveling in time would be their present selves with their own clothes and own memories and own thoughts and actions. no matter what time period it seemed that everyone was always combative and unwelcoming to the unknown.

seeing different situations with the same outcome basically said to me that your fate is your fate no matter the circumstances. you are the person you are going to be and you can shape your path somewhat, but when it is your time, it is your time and death will find a way to find you no matter how long you try to prolong it.

at first i didn't like miles, but i grew to like him and especially he and hurley together. i like hurley a lot, as i think others do as well. he was so kind and gentle from the beginning on, i really thought that he was going to be the new jacob. but they spent no time on that at all, jack says he'll do it, end of convo, whatever. what i always wondered was if he did have mental illness why he didn't have meds. and i just got hurley's biggest challenge, ding ding ding.

i did not like the ending. a lot of things i still question but will most likely never be answered. i watched every episode straight through. it kept my attention, pissed me off a lot and somewhat entertained me. i kind of liked it. in a star rating with a max of 5*'s i give it * * * = meh. (1-hated, 2-didn't like, 3-meh, 4-liked, 5-loved)

I spent a ridiculous amount of time thinking about the show and how it ended. Like, it still crosses my mind once a day.

I LOVED the series. I'm glad that I watched it but I'm sad to have so many unanswered questions. The day after the airing of the final Lost episode I actually felt a little bit depressed. Not because it was over, so much as that I didn't love the way it ended. I just kept feeling that I had missed something and everyone had a different theory about what had happened. I wanted something definitive. I wanted something undisputable... and they didn't offer it.

i still think about it. i might change my rating to 4. i totally agree with you, i did not like the ending.

here is my biggest issue with the series: it was so disjointed. like 4 episodes before the end we see jacob born. the character episodes followed no logical order. and things would just be thrown in there, which i did like, but being critical, it didn't seem like theses strange occurrences were well thought out nor explained afterward.

i think they really did it as they went along. i remember you saying that when i asked a while ago. ugh.

Yes. I think that they made it up as they went along. They asked huge questions... things about the Dharma Initiative, where the food was still coming from, why Aaron and Walt were special, were people getting sick and need vaccination and if so, why? And they never brought the show around to answer these questions. Really, they all needed to pull into a few different parking spots to bring the lot together. But they didn't. Boo.
