i quit the job. she txted me last night to say she wasn't coming in and taking an office day, leaving us a person short and someone coming in late. i thought a lot about it last night and this morning when i was up early. i txted her this morning that i wouldn't be in and i would email her. i plan on being honest but not rude.
leaves me pretty fucked. i have $100 in the bank. no income. bills. wedding stuff. so i am gonna have to gets me another job. maybe an office job with air conditioning and higher pay for mindless typing or something. and i'm gonna have to ask, beg if i have to to borrow money. i've paid back and haven't asked for money from my family in a long time. and i've been paying my student loan through them so they can really see i am doing it and get double payment in and i am in deferment right now so no-minimal interest and almost all going to principle. but yeah. not a good situation. but $12/hr for complete hell and child neglect happening right in front of me is not worth it to me. nor is being the one changing it when it's clear no one cares or feels it's as bad as it is. i am totally fucked but my mind feels a lot better. i thought a lot about this decision and the consequences of it. i know i made the right choice. i know it's going to be hard to work through this.
anywho. i had a nice lazy day yesterday. Internet, TV, nap, baseball, Simpsons, lazy lazy lazy day. Today i plan to chill for a little bit and process. Today would be great to clean bc it's cooler than it has been. Also, i gots to get to the store - again, it's cooler right now. it is predicted to get hotter, like 80 but not smoldering 90-100. and look and apply for jobs. which always leads to fun breaks on the Internet. Summer camp would be a'ight. but i think the office job might be the best idea. i think i still have a resume more geared toward that than education. word. kickin it old school.

OMG!!!!!!! What are you going to do?
Go to a temp agency ASAP. Get some pt tempt work. Then, if you have to leave for your apprenticeship you'll be okay. That's my suggestion.
And report that place to child services.
i don't know what i'm gonna do. i watched some sitcoms and took a nap. now i feel kinda sick. it could be from the once again sweltering heat.
temp agencies here suck. and i needed a car to get to the last one. but i will look into that, thanks for the suggestion.
i have to get all my stuff back including my original college degree, which i shouldn't have handed over so easily.
but i have been thinking of calling and reporting them. i actually am a mandatory reporter. i want to stay anonymous though so she won't figure out who it was. ugh
In all seriousness... you should tell them to mail your paperwork.
Also, if that place is as bad as you say and has that many law violations and is neglectful and understaffed... you should absolutely be part of the solution in shutting them down. Do parents know? Do they visit and see what bad shape it's in. Changing kids on towels on the floor for reasons of disorganization is terrible. And that poor little boy. Also, I can't imagine leaving to go anywhere with kids in nappies and not bringing nappies and wipes and water and snacks. ...it's just what you do...
Also, with temp agencies, don't you generally just go in once and then they give you a bunch of tests and begin placing you?
i should have them mail me the paperwork and my check for the hours.
and i should really write a letter or call and say what i observed on the 2 1/2 days i was there.
we did have water, but it got hot from being under the stroller in the sun. ice in before you leave makes it perfect in hot weather later. but no wipes for their hands before they ate their lunches after being outside for hours. or for their bottoms. and no diapers. instead of saying 'what can i do', i should've asked do we have cold water, wipes, lunch and diapers for everyone? but whatever, they should have the sense to do that.
and yeah, temp agencies are usually like that. here they are a big pain in the ass. i had to send a resume and they had to call me to come in and have an interview and then come back to take tests and then come back and take a piss test before they sent me to an assignment. and they were far away. i should look for a closer, less pain in the ass one. i need to reach out to friends. but on the temping issue they all say it's not worth the time. and that's what i've found out here, too.
I was also going to suggest a temp situation. Maybe an office environment would be a good change. Yes, it's boring... but there's comfort in that when you know you won't be doing it for the rest of your life.
The money is better. The air conditioning is nice. Usually you don't have to change any diapers.
Usually.
the office thing sounds really good. it's work i know i can do and won't get wrapped up in and won't feel bad about leaving. also A/C is a bonus. and the pay is generally more.
i just spent some time looking up temp agencies in portland. express which is what i went through had like 5 negative reviews similar to what i experienced, so i won't be going back there. generally on craigslist a portion of the office jobs are through temp agencies, but people said that it seemed better to contact the temp agency and get in the system rather than for a specific job bc 1) it might not exist or 2) they might not place you with it.
i found a list of temp agencies and am going to research their sites and go in if it sounds OK while continuing on craigslist. bets what i was doing. blech
