i went so i was right next to the box. nothing happened. i pressed power on and off. i turned it to cable. i took the batteries out and put them back in. i put in new batteries. i unplugged the box. i went online to comcast help and their first 3 steps were ones that i had already done, the fourth was to press buttons on the receiver itself. there are no buttons on the receiver, i looked on all 4 sides, top and bottom and even tried to open the damn thing, i am convinced there are no buttons. the final step is to get a new remote from comcast. i called and was on-hold too long so i hung up. i've tried enough times, so i am going to let it rest until morning. and then call comcast. and not have it interfere with my going to be awesome day.
this is what i did for the 2nd part of the day after i hit my head which totally has a bump. neat.

Aw... Feel Better!!!!!!
Comcast stinks, but at least you don't have Hotwire. Jay used to be a big Comcast-complainer. Now we are only able to have Hotwire in our building and our only option is dial-up. Our connection is slow and isn't consistent. Jay has to work from home at times... and he's mad about our service.
yeah, comcast does stink. i've learned that if you just act stupid and go along with the call it's much better than saying you already tried it, so today he was like, does the button light up red? no. the button under your finger? no, i decided to smash it with my whole hand so i couldn't see if any lights lit up. argh. so, i get to go to the comcast service center and show them the faulty remote and get a new one free of charge. and now i have no idea which batteries are new and not bc i switched them so many times. i'll just keep em all.
you have dial-up Internet? that's crazy!! can you do wireless with a card? you'd have to pay for the service (or take it from a good connection, you can get a 360degree wireless radar thing and if someone or some business has an open connection, you can take it) but wireless for me has been as good as cable if you have a good connection. or can you do dsl from the phone company? which sucks bc then you have to pay for a phone you prolly won't use.
it seems silly that i am asking you all this bc i know jay knows whats going on, but i couldn't stand doing work on dial-up. is there any option with work that he can figure out, like they could give him a computer with dedicated service or make the building get into the 21st century. haha.
Okay. Not dial up, but rather dsl.
I do not know what the difference was. Jay just corrected me though.
=D
they can't do cable up at my dad's either, he has dsl and it's ok, but not great. and it goes out a lot bc they have extreme weather up there sometimes.
getting pampered with t4 connections at school and rockaway soured me to anything less than cable.
i am very happy for you and jay that you at least have dsl =D
