well, i took a 1/2 a sleeping pill last night and it didn't help after an hour so i took the other half and got to bed later than i wanted so i didn't get to get anything done this morning, but i got to my interview on time and.................
I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's actually really cool, the 2 teachers that lead the program are awesome and they had a question sheet but we didn't even look at it, we just spoke naturally and it felt really great. it's $10/hr, the trainings are paid, too. and then it's only between 4-6 hours a week bc they alternate MWF and TR and it's 8:30-9:30 and then 11:40-12:40, so i can do all those times and do field experience on the opposite days. it's a program set up during the school day for students that are at the middle of the road, not low achievers, not high achievers. some have chosen it on their own, some parents have chosen it for them. it's to encourage them to keep on working and advance their skills so that they have a better chance at college and based on the past history, many of the students are the first in their family to go to college. also, it's not really tutoring persay, it's more about making them critically think and a big portion is on organization, which i love. although i am one of the messiest people, when it comes to school and work i am uber organized. i have to admit, it was freaking weird going to a HS and it's HUGE. thing is, walking up to and into the school, i felt like a student, most of them tower over me and a lot of girls are dolled up and look older than HS students. it'll be cool to get some experience with HS students to see how i like the age group. and they even mentioned that they are a huge district so this was a good way to get a foot in the door and maybe do student teaching in the district.
speaking of, i went to school today to hand out my disability forms and i ran into my field experience coordinator and we chatted for a bit. i told her about what happened with the school and meeting with tom (which hasn't happened yet so i am trying to worry less about it) and she seemed really miffed bc she hadn't heard anything. for the co-op teacher to not contact her at all and contact the director of the program was not the best avenue to take and she said she is going to try to find out some information. this totally screwed me bc i had 11 hours left to do which i was going to do last week and this week. i told her of my volunteer experience with STone and she said she could accept that for the additional hours. awesome. unawesome was my book buyback. close to $300 of books and it would've been less than $20 to sell them, so i kept them. she said that i could check at the end of each quarter and see if they are using the book and then i would get a good buyback rate. she also told me that wholesalers have usually paid about 30% but now they're only offering 10% or less, one book was $41 and it was $3 to sell it. thanks economy. i looked at some places on line but they didn't seem to have much better rates bc essentially i am selling to the wholesaler but on-line. i might go to the local book store where i have sold regular books before and see if they can give me more. there are a lot of colleges in or near downtown portland, so that may be good.
then i went to the clinic. tay and i got to talk a walk and talk for a while. she's the cool recyling artist that has been curating shows all over south america, she leaves in january again to do more work / fun. then karapist and i had an earlier session so i could be seen in the medical clinic. and fun fun fun, i have something that has no apparent cause and no treatment but a bandage around me under my chest, ibuprofren, heat and topical application of castor oil which i don't understand but will try. it's called costochondritis. he went over all the other things it could be but since it's palpable, he is almost certain this is what it is, but come back in 2 weeks if it's not better. the other options suck ass: gall-stones, heart problems, lung issues. he was very thorough with his questioning and exam so i feel confident it's this weird joint thing. i am thinking about stopping birth control. i remember the last time i did it was *awful* but i also was not taking care of myself and the reason i went on them in the first place was for hormonal regulation to help moods. last time i asked psych she said to stay on them, so i am going to wait until we see the full affects of the balta or (please, no) change meds. i have a lot of situational stuff going on so it's tough to get a good read. i know it's better than when i was having a crying fit and almost getting sent to the emergency room bc i couldn't get seen that day. also, i don't have a man and if i meet someone, i am not going to jump right in the sack with them although i will really really want to so i could start back up again WHEN (i said "if") i meet a good fella.
all i gots to do tomorrow is go to the store, contact the HS with information and do school work. it's pretty exciting doing final projects actually. i would love to watch some tv bc it really relaxes me before bed but unless i want to hear "oh, that's great suzie, i love the expandable zipper!" at blaring volumes i can only watch simpsons tapes which are great but recorded off old school tv so not high quality and it's too late for a movie. oh yeah, i could watch "in living color" which i thought i returned to the library and didn't and now owe $38 on. which i am really hoping is if i don't return it bc that seems like a big library fine.

Hey, I was going to mention gall stones, but I thought you said the pain was on your left side? Your gallbladder is on the right. (I know, because I'm minus mine.)
Congrats on the job. The hours sound great and I'm pretty sure that you'll like working with high school students. The nice thing is that most of the kids who are in for tutoring WANT help.
Also, have you had your hormone levels checked? Like with a saliva test? Blood tests aren't that accurate. I think that bc pills are superbad. There are dr's who won't even prescribe them anymore because of the negative effects they have on the heart. I think that it's all a matter of risk vs. benefit and adjusting your hormones in another way (such as a mild progesterone cream, reducing soy in your diet, minimizing your use of plastics) is a WAY WAY WAY better thing to do than to have a heart attack!
I hope this comment doesn't sound "know it allish." I certainly don't. But I had my dr. give me an earful about birth control pills when I asked her about them for leveling out my estrogen.
hey, this pain is on my right, but i did compare it to when my ribs were misaligned on the left. if it was on my left, i would be freaking out about a heart attack so i would've been in way earlier =P
thanks, congratulations accepted :) yeah, that's a good point, it's during the school day so they had to CHOOSE to be in it or their parents did. the teachers that run it say that most the students are excited to be there but sometimes i might have to work with them through some frustration or possibly giving up if they think it's too hard, but i am ready for the challenge!
i never had a saliva test. i did have a CBC where they did thyroid, but i don't think estrogen or progestren. i like the risk vs benefit comment. when i first when on them when i was a teenager, i felt a definite help with my moods and my flow, bc i also get really irregular, long, painful periods. that all came back when i went off them for like 6 months and i couldn't deal, so i went back on. also when i was heavily sexually active i always felt safer. now, i am on meds which should help the mood but i don't know what my periods would be like. i didn't know anything about the creams, that might be something to think of. as for soy, i do eat it, but not with every meal or even every day. i use skim milk instead of soy at home now and don't do any of the soy cheese or soy deli meats bc of the high soy content and being so processed. and i am on the "plastics are poison" boat. i use glass for almost everything, even my water-bottles and i have gotten rid of almost all the plastic in my house, i feel bad about throwing it away so i try to give the cups and dishes away.
know it all! J/K. no, i appreciate the information. when i go to psych next week i am going to talk to her about this. and see my favorite doc at the clinic about it, bc it's all been through planned parenthood.
