within the past month, this nice older woman came to my door and was giving information on jehovah's witnesses, i respect all religions but don't necessarily like the door-to-door approach, but that's what they do. she was nice yet persistent and finally i stated that my father is a pastor (he has been and is a chaplain now) and i am a christian. ok. that's a lie. sorry, but i didn't know what else to say. i kind of thought that would be a closer to the deal, but i guess they not only want people new to religion, but conversions too. this morning before 10am, which is not that early, but i didn't fall asleep until 4am, so it was, she rang my doorbell, flyer for an event and bible in her hand. she read me a scripture. i found it interesting that they don't celebrate holidays, yet they celebrate the death of jesus. not the resurrection, though. anyway, apparently i am incapable of saying no and now she has my name and is coming over next week to give me the jehovah's version of the bible. oh well. i don't have to answer the door. or i could tell her i'm not interested.
i didn't make it to the clinic this morning on time bc i was sick from eating food last night. i didn't make it yesterday bc i thought they opened at 1pm, but that was just last week bc they had a morning meeting, so they were full. meh. they aren't open on the weekend, so i just gotta deal. and i remembered this stuff, biofreeze that i had after my car accident and i used it on my side last night and it felt so much better. and today it's not hurting too bad at all. yes!
yesterday STone came over and then we met mel-g at new seasons and got and ate food. yum. we then dropped her car off for service and walked through the park to my house to re-collect ourselves and drop off stuff. i hear people on the stairs and the bell ring and it's 2 young boys, about 8 and 3. the older boy is collecting money for the laps he ran to keep arts in his school. STone gave a dollar and i found $3.00 in change, we were totally hanging and talking and then about a little over one year old girl came wobbling up the stairs with her mom. they told me they go to Cschool and that is my first choice for student teaching, that i've *already* indicated. i told them that i put my number on the form and if they ever needed me to give a call. she mentioned that they were looking for SMART (Start making a reader today) Readers. i am going to email the principal bc that's the contact information listed and i can't find anything else. then we saw them again as they were leaving my building we were going for a walk to the coffee shoppe and on our walk there were so many happy, friendly families, adults and children.
since STone is quick she realized when we got to the shoppe that the $3 i gave to the kids was going to be my iced latte so she got it for me instead of having me sitting there uncomfortably with her, L and mel-g, but also, it was a lesson to speak up, 3 people, hey, can i have $1 from each of you? she's really good to me. i look up to her for being so self-motivated and really not caring what others think. she has her resume posted online and seriously one of the jobs listed she said: "processed massive amounts of bureaucratic paperwork, administer standardized tests, supervised assistant teachers; left to pursue my dream of a music career" honesty. i got dropped off, they collected their stuff and i watched a dexter-a-thon. i want more. i get one disc at a time. and i watch it like 3 times. so good.
i found out that on-line school is actually $60 more a credit BUT it includes all materials including books - so that right there balances out especially since no one was buying back books this year, and the travel money and time overall saved i think balances out. the student services director wants a meeting with me and advisor. i don't feel it's necessary but i asked karapist for advise - what do you think?
